Program Description:
The program is specifically geared towards providing comprehensive driver rehabilitation. Provides clinical screening, behind-the-wheel evaluation, and on-road training. Works with clients, families, and professionals to assist in making appropriate decisions regarding the issue of driving. Specialized training and evaluation for beginner drivers with a disability.
Comprehensive driving evaluation: Determines how a person's functional impairment impacts their ability to operate a motor vehicle and to function safely in normal traffic environments. The evaluation includes clinical pre-driver screening and behind-the-wheel assessment.
Evlauation Results: The results of the evaluation are discussed with the client and a detailed report is sent to their physician and or the referral source. Permission to drive is granted by the physician and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Specialized driver training: Behind-the-wheel instruction is specifically designed for each client's needs. Training is done in a car equipped with an instructor brake and if needed, a full range of adaptive driving controls is available.
Adaptive driving equipment: Provides clients with recommendations regarding vehicle modifications.
