Program Description:
Adult Protective Services (APS) assists older adults (age 60 and older) and adults at risk (age 18-59 with a disabilty), who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, or self-neglect. All reports are kept confidential. This unit is responsible for investigating and intervening in cases of abuse to individuals at risk. This unit also initiates guardianship and protective placement for financially eligible adults who are unable to care for themselves or make informed decisions and whose health or safety is at risk. In addition, APS staff can provide information about Power of Attorney for Health Care and assist with completing the document. Please call for information and to make a referral for assistance.
