Program Description:
The Community Development and Inspections, under the Public Works Department, ensures the health, safety and welfare of the buildings that are lived in, worked in, and visited everyday. The Department is a code enforcement, project review, and approval agency for a variety of municipal and state codes and ordinances. Services: - Process building permit applications and fees. - Review construction plans and issue permits to contractors and property owners. - Inspect new and existing buildings for compliance with building safety, zoning, and property maintenance codes. - Investigate complaints from citizens regarding substandard buildings and premises, and enforce code compliance. - Website contains city codes, some applications and zoning information. All programs require owner occupancy at the time of application and throughout the grant or loan period. Applicants may contact City Development staff at 262.653.4030 to determine eligibility. Programs available through State Bank of the Lakes 1.TID Rehabilitation Loan Program – Loan up to $20,000 to correct violations of the City of Kenosha Property Maintenance Code 2.H.E.L.P. Loan Program – Loan up to $10,000 with priority for emergency repairs or violations of the City of Kenosha Property Maintenance Code Applicants may contact City Development staff at 262.653.4030 to determine eligibility.
