Program Description:
The Elder Financial Empowerment Project assists Wisconsin victims of financial abuse who are age 60 and above by: - Staffs a state-wide legal help line to provide information, advice, and referral to elder victims and their surrogates. - Providing limited emergency legal assistance to victims. - Restraining Order - Revocation of POAH, redrafting of POAH to remove abusive agent - Small claims consultation/garnishment - Chapter 7 Bankrupcy or Chapter 128 if necessary as a result of exploitation - Providing personal consumer credit advocacy - Providing legal advocacy and services - Working with others for an appropriate civil and criminal response that is respectful of the elder's wishes.
