Program Description:
The Kellogg Child and Family Program provides early intervention services to families with babies and children who are D/HH and to Deaf parents with hearing children. Listening spoken language specialists, certified speech-language pathologists/educators, teachers for the D/HH, and sign language instructors provide services at HEAR Wisconsin and in natural environments including homes, daycare centers, and schools. Parents are given unbiased information on language development - there is not one communication method that is right for every child. Each family has specific needs and unique style of learning so they can choose what is best for their family - listening and spoken language, sign language or both. ConnectHEAR is a nationally recognized program of HEAR Wisconsin that provides families with specialized hearing intervention services no matter where they live by using a laptop, tablet or smartphone. This option is a wonderful way for families who would not ordinarily have access to professionals who have experience in working with children with hearing loss in their geographic region to access specialized services.
