Program Description:
Kinship Care is financial assistance to cover the costs of care and maintenance of a child who resides outside of the child’s own home, either temporarily or for the long term, with a relative who could be an adult brother or sister, a first cousin, a nephew or niece, an uncle or aunt or a grandparent, among others. The State Department of Children and Family Services provides a monthly payment, through the local social service agency or tribe, for those applicant relative caregivers meeting Kinship eligibility requirements.
**The Department of Children and Families has launched a new Kinship Navigator Portal https://dcf.wisconsin.gov/kinship/navigator . The portal can be used by any relative caregiver throughout the state to identify services and resources available to them based on their specific caregiving situation. Caregivers will be asked to answer a set of questions specific to their situation, and based on those answers, they will be provided with an array of information about their eligibility for various programs.
