Program Description:
Wisconsin State Bar Lawyer Referral Service (LRS): - Provides assistance in finding lawyers. - Legal assistants experienced in analyzing potential legal problems and locating the best source of help. - Referrals to other legal service organizations, government agencies or community resources. - Provides information on general legal questions. - Can assess if you need an attorney, and then appropriate, LRS can refer you to a lawyer in the Kenosha or elsewhere in Wisconsin who has indicated an interest in dealing with your legal situation. Attorneys referred through LRS agree to charge no more than $20 for the first consultation, up to one half hour. *Now offers referrals to reduced fee attorneys through the Modest Means Program. Community Referrals If you don´t need a lawyer, LRS will refer you to another legal service organization, government agency, or community resource that might be able to help with your legal concern. Lawyer Hotline Maybe all you need is general legal information or an answer to a simple legal question, such as how to file in small claims court. LRIS will make an appointment for a lawyer to call you back, free of charge, within a few days to briefly discuss your question with you. *Note: This program does not keep a list of lawyers that provide free or low cost services.
