Program Description:
Community Based Day Services (CBDS) engage RCOC participants in a range of community experiences, programs, trainings, and life enrichment. RCOC offers a variety of daily opportunities for individuals to access community-based integrated settings. RCOC is committed to providing meaningful and enriching activities in the community. This service explores the interests of our participants while teaching them skills to lead lives that are as independent, healthy, and fulfilling as possible. Community-Based Day Services helps adults with disabilities to take part in their community and improve their personal skills by providing access to regular meaningful social contact and stimulating activities. Community-Based Day Services are designed to maximize a person’s ability to manage everyday life activities in their community. Through this program individuals grow to become more active members of their communities and gain skills to help them find or keep employment as well. The Racine County Opportunity Center believes that all induvial needs and preferences should be taken into consideration. This includes non-disability specific locations when providing services. CBDS is designed to meet each participant's interests with opportunities for experiential learning and skills development. CBDS participants work on job training skills, personal growth and development, and heightened awareness about the community they work and live in. Organized activities in the greater community provide learning opportunities for socialization, communication, while promoting physical and cognitive health and well-being. CBDS experiential learning covers a broad range of activities. They include trips to local museums, parks, libraries, events, public safety organizations, nature excursions, news writing, computer skills, meditation, yoga, music appreciation, and innovative art projects. CBDS participants also volunteer at local non-profits, social service and civic organizations. CBDS is committed to a continuum of services and programs to promote maximum engagement in the local community, while strengthening skills and life learning. RCOC’s Community Based Day Services shall provide a range of services that take into consideration individual difference in health, functioning, lifestyle, ethnicity, religion values, experiences, needs, interests, abilities, and skills. Providing Community Based solutions and resources that support the needs of current and future individuals and families in the community. Racine County Opportunity Center Guidance Program & Vocational Services is committed to assisting individuals with special needs and barriers to gaining and maintaining employment. Our team of Employment Professionals are available to assist in all areas of employment. This may include preparing for employment, seeking employment, and retaining employment. We are here to serve you! Additionally, we are here to assist local employers with their employment needs and diversifying the workplace. We can assist you in finding qualified candidates and reduce turnover. Hands of Opportunity Community Guidance Program & Vocational Services is contracted with the Workforce Development Center Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and several Managed Care Organizations (MCO). The Racine County Opportunity Center (RCOC) prides itself on providing individualized services helping youth and adults develop practical employment skills. Our Vocational Professionals are trained in providing Supported Employment Services, Customized Employment Services, and Long-Term Support in the workplace. We offer the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to be successful in achieving Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE). Our mission is to provide this training in the most integrated setting possible and we do not support sheltered employment. Our Vocational Professionals work with people to evaluate personal strengths and match them with employment opportunities that meet their goals. Individualized employment plans are developed and may include a variety of support services aimed at ensuring employment success in the community.
