Program Description:
The representative payee program is for individuals who are not able to handle their finances on their own for a variety of different reasons. As a representative payee, Society's Assets will be responsible for making sure the beneficiaries basic needs are met. Work with each person to develop a budget and involve them in the financial decisions. Provide the following: - Paying the rent, utilities, and other payments. - Pay for bus passes, medical bills, pharmacy bills, and burial trusts - Establishing a living expense for food and personal needs. This will be distributed monthly, twice a month, or weekly depending on the individuals preference. - Monthly Savings. - Explain Social Security and/or Supplemental Security payments - Report changes to Social Security that impact benefits such as wages from employment, change in residence, marital status and incarceration. - Provide information on other services such as housing subsidies, food stamps and work incentives.
