Program Description:
Volunteer guardians play an important role in the life of an at-risk elderly or disabled adult. A volunteer guardian is appointed by the court to make health, welfare and/or financial decisions for an adult in need. Volunteer guardians make important decisions and advocate for adults who can no longer make decisions for themselves. The program provides training and on-going assistance to volunteers to help them be successful. A volunteer guardian must be 21 or older. Volunteers are screened with criminal and caregiver background checks. They must attend a 2-hour training before becoming a guardian. SD
