Program Description:
The Wisconsin Respite Care Registry is a connector between respite care providers and primary/family caregivers. Respite care providers listed on the registry have completed RCAW’s Respite Care Certification Program. The registry also includes some facility-based environments and agencies, who requested to have a profile on the registry. Primary caregivers can filter their search for a provider by choosing: county, age of care recipient, and type of respite. The registry lists information for primary caregivers to contact the respite care provider to discuss things, including but not limited to: setting up an interview, hourly rate, and asking for a background check. Respite Care Association of Wisconsin also offers a variety of free online training courses for both caregivers and respite workers on many topics. These courses are divided into five categories: Respite Care Certificate Program, KIT for Caregivers, KIT for Respite Providers, Specialized Trainings, and Monthly Minis. https://respitecarewi.org/free-training-courses/ The RCAW Respite Care Certificate Program (RCCP) is designed for people who are interested in providing respite care to individuals with varying disabilities and ages across the lifespan. Learners are able to work at their own pace to complete the ten required online courses. Upon completion of the Respite Care Certificate Program, learners will be offered the opportunity to be added to the Wisconsin Respite Care Registry, available to primary caregivers to search for respite care providers in their community. ** NEW** RCAW is pleased to announce the launch of Respite Connections! This FREE resource allows family caregivers to submit posts with their specific respite needs, for example: age of the care recipient(s), • Acuity/descriptions of care needs, • Hours of respite needed, • Location & county, • Payment sources. Respite providers looking for clients can search for Respite Connections and contact families to find meaningful jobs providing respite care. https://respitecarewi.org/respite-connections/ SD, How to Hire a Caregiver
